ADDITIONAL RULES

Accompaniment Ensembles may have piano accompaniment.  Recorded accompaniments are not permitted.

 

Music Stands. Performers other than soloists must provide their own music stands.

 

Ensembles An ensemble should consist of not more than 10 players.
An orchestra should consist of more than 10 players.

 

RECORDER CLASSES

All types of recorder. Own choice of music   

 

W01   7 years and under  

         (maximum 2 minutes) 

W02   9 years and under  

         (maximum 3 minutes)

W03   11 years and under          

         (maximum 4 minutes)

W04   15 years and under          

         (maximum 8 minutes)

 

GRADE CLASSES

Any Woodwind Instrument         

One piece taken from a current or previous examination syllabus for the specified grade.

 

W05     Grade 1 and 2        

W06     Grade 3 and 4        

W07     Grade 5 and 6        

W08     Grade 7 and 8        

 

 

WOODWIND SOLOS: All pieces own choice

CLOSED CLASSES see rule 25 (11 years and under)

W09   Closed Flute, Oboe or Clarinet Solo    

         Any one piece, (maximum 3 minutes) 

W10   Closed Bassoon or any Saxophone Solo         

         Any one piece, (maximum 3 minutes)            

 

JUNIOR CLASSES (11 years and under)

W11   Flute, Oboe or Clarinet Solo any one piece,  

         (maximum 3 minutes)

W12   Bassoon or any Saxophone Solo 

         (any one piece, maximum 3 minutes)

W13   Woodwind Recital  

         (2 contrasting pieces, maximum 10 minutes)

 

INTERMEDIATE CLASSES (15 years and under)

W14   Flute, Oboe or Clarinet Solo      

         (any one piece, maximum 5 minutes) 

W15   Bassoon or any Saxophone Solo 

         (any one piece, maximum, 5 minutes)

W16   Woodwind Recital  

         (2 contrasting pieces, maximum 12 minutes)  

      

ADVANCED CLASSES (18 years and under)

W17   Flute, Oboe or Clarinet Solo      

         (any one piece, maximum 8 minutes)    

W18   Bassoon or any Saxophone Solo 

         (any one piece, maximum 8 minutes)

W19 Woodwind Recital  

         (2 contrasting pieces, maximum 15 minutes)        

 

OPEN CLASSES (any age or status)

W20   Flute, Oboe or Clarinet Solo      

         (any one piece, maximum 10 minutes)

W21   Bassoon or any Saxophone Solo  

         (any one piece, maximum 10 minutes)                   

W22   Woodwind Recital  

         (2 contrasting pieces, maximum 20 minutes)
