PIANO SECTION ADDITIONAL RULES

 

REPEATS

Repeats may be played in set pieces, own choice or recital classes as long as the time limit (where specified) is not exceeded.

 

RECITAL CLASSES

Only one recital class may be entered.  Please ensure that the recital class chosen is the most suited in age, ability and status.

 

GRADE CLASSES

Entrants should not have passed the grade for which the piece is set before 30th September 2008. One piece taken from a current or previous examination syllabus for the specified grade.

 

CLOSED CLASSES (see rule 13)

Own choice

P01      9 years and under      £5.00

           (maximum 2 minutes)

P02      11 years and under    £5.00

           (maximum 3 minutes)

P03      15 years and under    £5.00

           (maximum 4 minutes)

P04      16 years and over      £6.00

           (maximum 5 minutes)

P05      Preparatory Grade     £5.00

P06      Grades 1 & 2   £5.00

P25      Intermediate 20th/21st Century     £6.00

           Own choice piece written in 20th or 21st century

           Any Etude by Chopin, Liszt, Scriabin etc.

P34      Open Classical          £12.00

           Any classical piece written up to and including Beethoven and Schubert

P35      Open Chopin Class     £12.00

           Any piece written by Chopin         

P36      Open French Class     £12.00

           Any piece written by Debussy, Ravel, Faure, Poulenc or Messiaen

P37      Open Russian Class    £12.00

           Any piece written by a Russian composer eg Rachmaninoff, Scriabin etc.

P38      Open Contemporary Class     £15.00

           Own choice piece written between 1940 and the present day

P39      Open Recital Class     £15.00

           Own choice of 2 contrasting pieces minimum standard Grade 8

           (maximum 20 minutes)

 

DUET/TRIO CLASSES

Own choice
